Laser Skin Treatment in Derby
What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin condition that affects the face. It results in a persistent redness, often on the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. The redness is caused by dilated blood vessels. It can also result in small bumps and acne-like spots on the skin. Initially it may look like blushing but can then develop to look more like a rash. It often affects confidence and the affected area can feel hot, sensitive, itchy and there may be a stinging sensation.
The precise cause of rosacea is not yet known. Abnormalities in blood vessels have been suggested as a possible cause. Some triggers that appear to make rosacea worse include spicy foods, alcohol, caffeine, extreme hot or cold temperatures, stress and strenuous exercise.
How can IPL treatment with the M22™ machine help Rosacea?
Rosacea can be effectively treated using the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) mode of the Lumenis M22™ machine. IPL uses controlled light in specific wavelengths to ease the inflammation, redness, spots and uneven skin tones caused by rosacea. IPL offers a gentle, long-lasting solution by gradually and naturally improving the skin’s appearance.
The IPL procedure sends short, targeted bursts of light energy into the skin’s layers. Our technician can set the machine to target the haemoglobin in your blood vessels. Haemoglobin is a protein found in the red blood cells that carries oxygen around your body and gives blood its red colour. The light energy is absorbed by the haemoglobin and the blood vessel walls are damaged – in a controlled way. This triggers the body’s natural defence mechanisms to break down and then remove the damaged tissue. New cells grow which provide clearer skin.
You will be able to return to your usual daily activities immediately after a treatment.
What do I do next?
Contact us at Avance Clinic to book a consultation where one of our expert technicians will examine your skin and take a medical history. We can then discuss a programme of treatment with you and give you a patch test so that you can experience how IPL treatment feels. You can ask any questions and receive an assessment of how many sessions you may need to see the results you want. Many clients report improvements from the first session. As the body responds to the treatment, the skin will continue to clear.
